Choice Bus visits St. Louis

The Mattie C. Stewart Foundation’s Choice Bus makes a stop at L’Ouverture Middle School. Half classroom, half prison cell, the bus and its crew travel to teach kids about the connection to staying in school and earning potential. They also warn kids that 75 percent of the prison population is made up of dropouts. At the end of the four-minute video the students get to stand in a replica jail cell. As they get off the bus, they are given a pledge card. It's up to the students to sign the card and commit to their education.

Former state lawmakers Jeff Smith and Steve Brown were sentenced today for lying to federal officials in an effort to cover-up their involvement in an anonymous political attack. Jeff Smith got one year in prison and Steve Brown received one year's probation.

The Red Cross is trying to build up supplies of blood for the upcoming holiday season. The event was hosted at seven different locations across the metro area in Missouri and Illinois.
