October 5, 2010- "Yields are down all over the country.  You can't blame it on varieties.  It's just weather." Says Kenneth Hartman, Jr., owner of Glendell H. Farms in Waterloo, IL. Hartman planted 12 different varieties of corn on his farm this season, including DeKalb, a Monsanto brand, but did not spend the extra money for SmartStax this year, but says once the variety is proven to work he'd be willing to.
