Caption: As traveler Kathy Anderson of Green Bay, WI, prays during Mass, Ray Bosenbecker of Chesterfield arrives at the St. Louis Airport Interfaith Chapel after deplaning from his flight on Friday, December 9, 2011, at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Bosenbecker said he has visited the chapel over a dozen times while traveling. "Most people don't know it's here," said Bosenbecker, adding that the chapel is a place to recenter and a place where he thanks God for a safe flight. "It is a little community in itself," said Deacon James Martin, president of the St. Louis Interfaith Chaplaincy. He said the chapel, staffed by volunteers, offers Catholic Mass and Protestant services, along with prayer rugs for Muslims and prayer books for Jewish visitors. In an airport lined with gift and snack shops for passing travelers, Martin said the chapel is a quiet place for reflection and prayer. "It's a stop that doesn't have anything for sale. It's yours for the taking," said Martin. Photo by Erik M. Lunsford elunsford@post-dispatch.com
