The gathering was in the home of Washington University chancellor Arthur Holly Compton. With Eliot are relatives from across the United States and Great Britain who gathered here for his second speech at the university, which was celebrating its centennial in 1953. The Rev. William Greenleaf Eliot of St. Louis, a founder of Washington University, was his grandfather. (Post-Dispatch)
