Caption: Part of the basement of the old Lemp brewery in 1992. William Lemp Jr. sold off the brewery property six months before he shot himself. Among the buyers were International Shoe Co., which made supplies and boxes there for its many factories. In 1920, Joseph Griesedieck had bought the rights to Falstaff Brewing Co. and the Lemp shield, later known as the Falstaff beer label. Interco, formerly International Shoe, sold the old brewery complex in 1992. (Sam Leone/Post-Dispatch)
