TUESDAY, JAN. 8, 2002 - Former Cardinal shortstop Ozzie Smith wipes away tears Wednesday as he gets the big call at his home Tuesday informing him that he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Smith received 92 percent of the votes.
"It's everything I thought it would be," Smith said speaking of the honor. "Except for the tears."
