"Later brother" says Mark Meirink, 22, of Maryland Heights, as turns to leave after visiting the grave of Phillip Vinnedge, of St. Charles, on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Meirink served with Vinnedge in the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment in Helmand Province in 2010 when Vinnedge was killed by a road side bomb.  Meirink was severely wounded himself several months after Vinnedge died when he stepped on a bomb that blew off the bottom of his right leg.  The flag next to Vinnedge's grave was placed there by his Boy Scout, troop 674 out of St. Charles, with whom Vinnedge achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
