Tuesday August 30, 2011--Foster mother Myra Holman talks with a pair of children in her care at her home in the metro east. Holman was telling the children about the positive things the kids' teachers had to say about their school work and was letting them know she would continue to check in with their teachers. Holman is a foster parent with Catholic Social Services of Southern Illinois. A new law legalizing civil unions for gay couples now requires Catholic Social Services to accept gay couples in civil unions as foster parents and place children in their homes. Catholic Social Services is opposed to placing children with into homes with gay couples who are in civil unions.
