September 6, 2011- Carlos Santana, left, and his wife Cindy Blackman, second from left, watch a fashion show debuting the Carlos by Carlos Santana Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 shoe collections at the Brown Shoe headquarters in St. Louis on Tuesday.   Brown Shoe has been collaborating with Carlos on the Carlos by Carlos Santana footwear brand for the past 10 years.

Tuesday August 30, 2011--Jenny Nance, left, a case worker with Catholic Social Services, works a case in the organization's Belleville offices on Tuesday.  A new law legalizing civil unions for gay couples now requires Catholic Social Services to accept gay couples in civil unions as foster parents and place children in their homes.  Catholic Social Services is opposed to placing children with gay couples in civil unions.

Wednesday August 17, 2011--Gloria Garcia, manager of Tienda Mexicana El Caporal Grocery,  talks with Health Inspector Pieter Sheehan about some minor health code violations he found during an inspection of the St. Charles store on Wednesday.  The shop was given a score of 79 out of 100 because of a number of minor health code violations that were found during the inspection.

Wednesday August 17, 2011--Health Inspector Pieter Sheehan  takes a looks at the expiration dates on some prepackaged items for sale in the fresh produce section of the Dardenne Crossing Schnucks on Wednesday.  During his inspection that lasted about 30 minutes Sheehan found no violations and the store received a perfect score of 100.

Wednesday August 17, 2011--Health Inspector Pieter Sheehan  hangs a signs at the entrance to the pool in Heatherton Condos development in St. Charles closing it to swimming because the chlorine level in the pool was too high. Sheehan was making a return trip to the pool to check on the chlorine levels which during an earlier visit were so low that the pool had be closed then too.

Tuesday September 6, 2011--I work at a bank says Hope Hunt talking to a S.W.A.T. team member as she takes a closer look at a customized SI Defense AR-10 .308 sniper rifle during the St. Louis Police Foundation Annual Fall Sports Kickoff Lunch on Tuesday.  Also pictured with Hunt is her co-worker at UMB Bank at Michael Garner, the bank sponsored a table at the luncheon.  Police officers brought some of their equipment they use in the line of duty, like weapons, cameras, robots, vehicles and a helicopter that landed on Washington Avenue to show off to the people attending the lunch.  The St. Louis Police Foundation has purchased six of the guns at a cost of $7-8,000 dollars a piece for the S.W.A.T. team over the past several years.

The City of O'Fallon, Mo., is building a playground named after a local boy with disabilities. The playground, modeled after one in Lake St. Louis, is being built with features that make it accessible for kids and their parents to use. This a growing trend of new playgrounds popping up locally and nationally.
