Sunday September 11, 2011--Garrett Hauck, 5, from Ballwin, looks up at some of the of 2,996 flags planted on Art Hill in St. Louis after memorial service to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.  People will ask him if he wants to be a baseball player when he grows up and he says no I want to be a firefighter said his mother Carrie Hauck, not pictured, He practically sleeps in this outfit.

Sunday September 11, 2011--People reach out to touch a piece of a steel beam from World Trade Center that is mounted on a memorial to the victims of 9/11 terrorist attacks outside the Arnold Recreation Center on Sunday.  The memorial was  unveiled to the public during a ceremony on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11.  Hundreds of people showed up to watch the ceremony and many lined up to touch the steel beam after the event.

Riley Twohy, 7, tries to decide what to write in his thank you card to a service member as his mom Jennifer helps him. He settled on Thank you for protecting us. The Twohys were participating in Citizens United in Service at City Hall in O'Fallon Mo. Along with the letters, the event also included assembling child identification kits, delivering neighborhood watch brochures, and cleaning the Veterans Memorial Walk.

CHARLES, Mo. -- FIrefighter Vince Davis places a helmet on a memorial to first responders during a special worship service held by Harvester Christian Church to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The event, held Sept. 11 2011 at the St. Charles Family Arena, was open to all community members and featured David Beamer, father of Todd Beamer, one of the passengers who disrupted the efforts to attack Washington, DC with United Flight 93.
