October 5, 2011 -- Portrait of Alaa Alsaegh at his home in south St. Louis on Wednesday. Alsaegh, a Muslim immigrant who lived in Iraq and Lebanon, was the victim of what he described as a hate crime earlier in August. Alsaegh claims attackers carved the Star of David into his back using a knife after Alsaegh posted a poem, Cries From The Heart of the Holocaust, on a website promoting peace between Jewish and Muslim people and supporting the state of Israel. September 17, 2001 - Southampton resident Tom Quigley carries his nephew Gavin Guiett down the mural-lined stairs of Kennard Classical Junior Academy during Saturday's open house for magnet schools. Quigley and his wife are trying to find the best place for their four-year-old daughter to attend but Quigley is unsure of his chances of being picked in the magnet school lottery. I think she's smart enough to get in but even if she scores (well), it's still the luck of the draw. The stairwell murals were painted by Kennard students and teachers.
