The St. Louis Coliseum, where Roosevelt and President Herbert Hoover gave campaign speeches in 1932. The hall was built in 1909 and was the scene of the 1916 Democratic National Convention, Veiled Prophet balls, big conventions and sporting events. The Coliseum lost favor to the Municipal (Kiel) Auditorium after that building was opened in 1934. The Coliseum was demolished in 1953. (Post-Dispatch)

St. Joseph's Catholic School students in Imperial listen as Dr. Sandy Magnus, an astronaut and Belleville native who was aboard the final NASA Space Shuttle Atlantis mission that concluded the program, answers questions Thursday Oct. 20, 2011. Magnus has two nephews at the school where she returned a banner that every student at the school signed and gave to Magnus prior to her mission. After it was taken aboard the shuttle into space, Magnus had it signed by every  Atlantis crew member.
