Tony Albillo, an 8th-grader at Maplewood Richmond Heights Middle School, harvests seeds from a field in Forest Park on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. According to science teacher Scott McClintock, students from the school go on regular field trips to the park throughout the semester to help supplement and inform their current studies. We use Forest Park for so much of our curriculum that we just wanted to give back to them, said McClintock regarding students from his school helping Forest Park Forever with harvesting the seeds. According to Kim Kreiling, a nature reserve steward with Forest Park Forever, the seeds will be used elsewhere in the park to expand natural areas or add more diversity to a pre-existing one. The group also participates in a seed exchange program with MoBot and other groups.
