'Tis the season for historic holiday house tours

The Campbell House Museum and Chatillon-DeMenil House are two of those featured to tour. Others to check out are the Eugene Field House, The Old Courthouse and the Tower Grove House and Museum Building.
The exterior of the Chatillon-DeMenil House is decorated simply for the holidays.

Typical of 19th century holiday tradition, gentlemen callers would leave paper cones filled with candy for the eligible teenage daughters.  The cones decorate a tabletop at the Chatillon-DeMenil House.

Fruit decorated wreaths filled 19th century homes, as seen inside the Chatillon-DeMenil House.  In order to keep wildlife from invading the historic home, artificial food is used as a substitute.

During the 19th century, traditional 'spider webs' of yarn holding dangling presents were built as children slept on Christmas Eve, as seen inside the Chatillon-DeMenil House.  Each child in the home would have a different color of yarn that they would follow to collect their bounty.
