This is one of our last neighborhood phones. I am surprised it is still here, said tech Joe Nesselhauf, who checks the pay phone along  the 4000 block of Grand near the intersection of Montana since it had been usually quite Thursday Dec. 01,  2011 in St. Louis , Mo. According to Nesselhauf many of the phones of been removed because alderman's often don't like the riff-raff business that a pay phone might bring into the neighborhood. It's like a cemetery for phones, said tech Joe Nesselhauf, revealing the broken phones filling his service van Thursday Dec. 01,  2011 in St. Louis , Mo.  Nesselhauf  keeps the old phones to make repairs to the phones that are still in service. Joe is the grandson of Jim Nesselhauf ,62, who is not sure which will come first, retirement or the demise of his pay phone business.  Nesselhauf owns Joltran Communications Inc., one of two companies supporting pay phones in this area. Federal rules that prohibit commercial truck drivers from using their cell phone go into effect at the beginning of 2012. Byrd, who is headed to Oklahoma City, said his Cedar Rapids, IA company has a way of determining fault if an accident occurs. They will definitely check my phone records if something happens, he said.

Maplewood police officer S. Jamerson joins neighbor Judy Peterson, right, as they help Jean Seckel from her home early Friday December 9, 2011at the scene of a house fire in the 3600 block of Oxford.  The rear of house next door to Seckel's caught fire and immediate neighbors were evacuated because of firefighters concern over a propane tank in the garage.  Seckel's home sustained minor exposure damage from the heat.  And to think I just paid my insurance, said Seckel.
