Ruby Hinkle of Bridgeton prays Friday, December 9, 2011, in the St. Louis Airport Interfaith Chapel at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Hinkle said she has been visiting the chapel daily, sometimes twice a day before and after work, for over a year and half, to reflect and pray. I see people coming and going. They sit and praise God, said Hinkle. It is a little community in itself, said Deacon James Martin, president of the St. Louis Interfaith Chaplaincy. He said the chapel, staffed by volunteers, offers Catholic Mass and Protestant services, along with prayer rugs for Muslims and prayer books for Jewish visitors. In an airport lined with gift and snack shops for passing travelers, Martin said the chapel is a quiet place for reflection and prayer. It's a stop that doesn't have anything for sale. It's yours for the taking, said Martin. Photo by Erik M. Lunsford elunsford@post-dispatch.com

Bosenbecker said he has visited the chapel over a dozen times while traveling. Most people don't know it's here, said Bosenbecker, adding that the chapel is a place to recenter and a place where he thanks God for a safe flight. It is a little community in itself, said Deacon James Martin, president of the St. Louis Interfaith Chaplaincy.
