Earlier this week, the Vernon County Sheriff's Department and The Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force received calls about dead and starving horses on a property near Milo, Mo. Sixteen horses and 2 donkeys were rescued. Seven deceased horses were also found. The rescued horses and donkeys were taken to the Humane Society of Missouri's Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, Mo. Friday Jan. 6, 2012.
