House raised in Kirkwood gets a basement

The EHM company raised a home in Kirkwood on W. Adams Street so a basement could be built underneath. The home, built in 1853, was jacked up and placed on blocks while workers took away the dirt underneath so a basement could be built.

The original slats have been exposed at the base of this Kirkwood house that was built in 1853 without a basement. The house has been raised by the EHM Company so that a basement foundation can be built underneath. Once the house is lowered onto the new foundation, rotten boards at the base of the house will be replaced.
