Demolition begins March 31, 1947. The property owner, a local railroad supervisor, said he didn't know what he would do with the cleared property. There was talk of reassembling it for a museum, but that didn't happen. (Post-Dispatch)

Police investigate a fatal shooting late Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the 1400 block of Burd Avenue in St. Louis.  Five St. Louis police officers, four from the rapid deployment unit and one district detective, fired shots during a chase. St. Louis police Capt. Michael Sack said three bullets struck a police car in the shootout.  Officers recovered the suspect's Tech-9 semi-automatic handgun, which had an extension attached, Sack said.

A gas line rupture caused by a contractor backhoe gave Habitat for Humanity volunteers an unexpected break Friday March 30, 2012. Niles North High School students, including Taylor Gardner (right) shielding the eyes of Ross Drucker, were spending their spring break laying hardwood floors in one of the homes when they were told to get out.  We do service projects every break, but we never expected this, said Gardner.
