Donned in her firefighter uniform, Debra Johnson of St. Peters watis to begin a simulated search and rescue drill at the Citizen Fire Academy Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in St. Peters. It's been eye-opening, said Johnson, a assistant professor at Lindenwood University, who signed up for the academy with a colleague. We found the victim inside but had trouble finding the door on the way. It was so dark. And just think there was no real fire or real victims, said Johnson, talking about the simulated search and rescue in a smoked filled building. The Central County Fire and Rescue offers class to give residents a taste of the training firefighters go through at the fire academy through planned simulated emergencies.
