Ronnie Carter fastens inventory for display at Gifts and Decorations sidewalk shop at 1147 N. Kingshighway Blvd. in St. Louis on Wednesday May 2, 2012. The outdoor corner shop at Vernon Ave. with suspended stuffed animals and a selection of large blankets with iconic figures like Betty Boop and Bob Marley . has been a colorful roadside fixture for anyone on the north-south commute on since 1987. The only thing he dreads is bad weather. Even slow days are worth his time sitting out there all day. If I wasn't out here, I'd probably be sitting at home watching TV. If you sit out here long enough, you'll sell something.
