The VP candidates may be hashing it out at Wash U., but for these two stand-up guys, it was a day of non-partisan friendship as they visited some favorite spots here in the Lou.
WhatŐs a visit to St. Louis without devouring a delicious ImoŐs pizza? After their busy morning, the guys were feeling a bit flat. To boost their energy, they stopped for lunch at the downtown ImoŐs and shared a pie with LaKeisha Taylor (left) and JaCianna Reed, both of St. Louis. The candidates debated over which was better: the provel cheese or the cracker-thin crust.

The candidates stumped Ń and sampled the local brew Ń at Schlafly

To cap off their day in St. Louis, they headed to the Drunken Fish in the
Central West End. Somewhere out there, cardboard cutouts of Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama were partying at a fraternity kegger.

Obama and McCain stopped off at the Gateway Arch, where they met Jean-Gabriel Chelala, a French tourist on a mission to travel the world on his bicycle. He invited the candidates to join him, but they couldnŐt find a tandem bike.

Next up was a train ride at the St. Louis Zoo. Not surprisingly, McCain
wanted to look at the elephants, and Obama wanted to find a donkey.
They could only find a Somali wild ass.
