Belleville expels for bus beating

The Belleville Township High School District 201 held an open meeting tonight. One item addressed was the disciplinary action taken against those involved with the recent beating on a school bus. Members of the community and parents spoke out in reaction to the decision to expel the students and suspend others on the bus.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2009 - Joyce Borders is the first to speak regarding student discipline after the recent bus beating at a Belleville Township High School District 201 meeting held at the district board room. Borders stated that expulsion may not be the best answer and suggests counseling and other psychology help if the board truly has concern for the education of the students. Borders own grandson was suspended for five days after the incident. In the tape, he is seen behind the victim laughing. She ended her commentary by referencing the pledge of allegiance, urging freedom and justice for all.
