WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19, 2009 - Sofia Ottolini, 4, of St. Louis hangs on the railing at St. Louis Language Immersion Schools. Ottolini isn't old enough to go to school yet, but her sister Isabella Ottolini, 5, is in the French program at the school. Sofia says she can't wait to start the French school when she turns 5. Her mother calls her a wannabe. The school opened its doors this year and teaches two curriculums, one entirely in French and the other in Spanish.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 2009 - Robert Laster holds his cat Reese's (CQ) after firefighters rescued her from his first floor apartment at Convent Gardens in the Central West End. Laster grabbed his computer and dog before exiting the apartment but was unable to find his cat while fleeing. His cat suffered smoke inhalation. His aunt, who lives with him, was not in the apartment when the fire broke out. The building was evacuated, and no one was injured. The fire was put out within 15 minutes.

The career center opened in April 2009. Williams first visited the center two weeks ago and got a job offer after an interview on August 12.
